Conversations on Houselessness: The Impact and Opportunity of Existing and New Land Use Policies

Date: August 4, 2021Time: 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
Conversations on Houselessness:
The Impact and Opportunity of Existing and
New Land Use Policies

August 4th, 12noon-1:15pm
via Zoom

The housing and houselessness crisis is not just one problem that can be solved with one solution. Chipping away at this crisis will require multiple solutions, each of which addresses only a part of the crisis.

One solution is to create more housing stock that people can afford to stay in or get back into. Oregon’s land use planning program includes requirements that each city plan for and provide for all the types of housing (in cost, type, and location) needed by their residents. However, most cities have failed in that charge, resulting in a significant shortage of the types of housing options that could help ease this crisis.

Join Greg Holmes (Class XXXVIII and 1000 Friends of Oregon, Southern Oregon Advocate) to learn about new and proposed policies aimed at addressing these deficiencies and how and when they will be implemented across Oregon.
