Executive Director | Lisa Watson, Class 30

Since the July 3rd announcement of the board’s plan to focus this year on senior fellow engagement rather than produce another cohort during a leadership transition, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and affirming. You’ve really stepped up in big and small ways as donors, volunteers, advisors and champions - just as we would expect from LEADERS among the ALF network.

At the time of our announcement we fully intended to name an Interim Executive Director and start a search for new leadership this fall. However, an opportunity to secure an amazing leader from within the Senior Fellow Network presented itself and we would be crazy to let her get away. I’m thrilled to announce that the Board of Directors has selected Lisa Watson, class 30, to be ALFO’s next Executive Director!

Lisa is a recognized community leader with relationships both in and outside the Senior Fellow Network that will be key to advancing our goal of strengthening and leveraging the network to meet the numerous challenges facing Oregon now and in the future.

Lisa grew up in Salem and has a broad range of professional and volunteer leadership experience in addition to being a champion of equity and inclusion policies and practices. She was a successful small business entrepreneur for 10 years as founder and owner of Cupcake Jones Bakery, was Director of Development at Latino Network and most recently Deputy Director at Our House. Her board leadership includes President of the City Club of Portland, Travel Portland and the Oregon Health Authority’s Statewide Policy Board. Like many of us, Lisa’s ALF experience was transformational personally and professionally, and was the catalyst for her to reconnect with her Native American heritage.

Lisa’s official start date will be August 5th but don’t be surprised if you hear from her sooner. You’ll also get an opportunity to meet Lisa at the various Senior Fellow Town Halls currently being organized and of course at REUNION on September 14th.  Don’t wait to get your tickets and tables organized!  We have much to celebrate AND work to do in Oregon so let’s get to it!

Onward -
